Typical Tuesday

Do you now see how backwards yesterday was? I completely forgot “Mealtime Monday” so I’ll add a cute Christmas recipe that you can do for or with you little ones today.

Peanut Butter Reindeer Faces from Kaboose.com

Ingredients

  • 1 slice bread
  • peanut butter
  • 4 mini pretzels
  • 4 raisins
  • 2 mini marshmallows, maraschino cherries or red-hot cinnamon candies
  • plates
  • knife

Cooking Instructions

  1. Cut bread in half from corner to corner, making two equal triangles.
  2. Spread peanut butter over bread.
  3. Decorate as follows:
    • Lay in front of you, point facing you and long side of triangle facing away from you.
    • Place one mini pretzel on each upper corner (the antlers); two raisins in the center of each slice (the eyes) and one mini marshmallow (or maraschino cherry or cinnamon candy if you are making Rudolph) on the tip of each short point nearest you (the nose).
  4. Presto! Two reindeer faces looking back at you . . . simple enough for a preschooler to make, fast enough for a mom to make one each for a whole class, and nutritious enough to nourish even the most jaded kid on Christmas Day.

It’s almost 8am and it’s a little cooler today then yesterday and it’s really foggy out there. My youngest daughter woke up at 5am which means she is now really ill and throwing things in the living room because Dora the explorer isn’t on yet. Well ya know what miss priss maybe you shouldn’t have gotten up so early!  I guess I have to say that things are back to normal and opposite day is over!

My son has his casting party today from the school play. His item to bring was cookies. I think Christmas parties and this time of year parties at school were the best because moms were in such a baking mood that everything was homemade and so very yummy. Now however you can’t send homemade items, it must be packaged, store bought items. I think that is such  nonsense and very disappointing. I mean has the world really gotten so bad that our kids can’t trust the parents of their classmates to bake them some cookies? If I were a kid I’d certainly be upset I mean really I can get oreos at home or from the store anytime but I can’t always get fresh baked ginger bread men or holiday shaped candies. It’s just sad that this is what the world has done to our kids.  Anyway his father picked up two bags of oreos. Leave it to a man to do it right and I promise you’ll regret not doing it yourself! There are 28 or so kids and he bought two bags of oreos, ok so maybe that might feed them BARELY but how about getting the same type so each child gets one! No bless his heart he got mint and double filled so now the kids will be fighting over who gets what! I guess I’m just grateful that after a long day at work he actually stopped by the store and picked them up without complaining even once… and no I didn’t complain about them being different either I told him he did great picking them out. Isn’t that what the holidays are all about!
